Harvesters Improve to 20-1 in Kansas

ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. – Dallas College Eastfield's volleyball team went 3-1 at the Cowley County Community College Invitational Friday and Saturday.

The National Junior College Athletic Association Division III No. 1-ranked Harvester Bees beat Metropolitan Community College in four sets, NJCAA Division II No. 18 Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College in five, and swept Central Community College-Columbus before falling in three sets to NJCAA Division II No. 1 Cowley County.

The loss snapped Eastfield's 55-match winning streak, dating back to the start of last season.

In the 26-24, 25-14, 24-26, 25-8 win over Metropolitan CC, Eastfield had 17 kills in the first and third sets and 14 in the second and fourth, respectively. The Harvesters hit .306 in the second set and .444 in the fourth, committing a total of five errors in those sets combined.

Taryn Doiron had 52 assists, 11 digs and four blocks. McKenzie Anderson pounded a career-high 21 kills, hit .457, and had five blocks. Brenly Walker had a career-high 19 kills, 14 digs and two blocks. Carli Banks had eight kills, two aces, four blocks and nine digs. Kendall Wilson had seven kills and a career-high seven blocks. Azoria Davis had six kills, 11 digs, two blocks and an ace. Ava Cole had 24 digs and two aces.

In the 25-22, 25-27, 25-13, 20-25, 15-8 win over Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, Eastfield had 17 kills in the opening set and 18 in the second. The Bees hit .381 in the fifth, putting away nine balls against one attack error. It was the second time this season the Harvesters beat the Norse (21-5).

Doiron had 57 assists, 15 digs and two blocks. Anderson banged down 21 kills in the second straight match, had three aces and six blocks, and hit .362. Walker had 16 kills, 20 digs, two aces and three blocks. Banks had 13 kills, 14 digs, three blocks and an ace. Cole had a career-high 37 digs, and Davis 17.

In the sweep of Central CC-Columbus, Eastfield hit .263, including a .355 attack rate in the middle set and .294 in the third.

Doiron had 30 assists, 13 digs and four blocks. Davis finished with 10 kills, nine digs and four blocks. Walker had eight kills, 14 digs, three blocks and an ace, and hit .375. Anderson had seven kills and a career-high eight blocks. Banks had six kills, a career-best five aces, 15 digs and a block, and hit .455. Cole had nine digs.

In the 25-21, 25-20, 25-18 loss to Cowley, the Bees had double-digit kills in each set, putting away 12 in the third, but were held to an .083 hitting percentage. Cowley (17-0) hit .252.

Doiron had 20 assists, nine digs, an ace and a block. Banks had 11 kills, 12 digs, an ace, a solo block, and hit .292. Walker had eight kills, 13 digs and an ace. Anderson had five kills and a block. Cole had 20 digs.

Eastfield returns to Dallas Athletic Conference action 6 p.m. Monday to host Dallas College Mountain View.
