Eastfield Finishes 2nd at World Series

Eastfield made a strong run at the World Series finishing as the national runner up. 

Four Harvesters received accolades for their play during the week. Infielder Chris Dickens and outfielder Khalon Clayton were named to the All-Tournament Team. RHP Nathan McKissick was named the Pitcher of the Tournament and SS Hunter O'shea was named the Defensive Player of the Tournament. 

Eastfield opened up the World Series with a 11-5 win over Niagara County. 

Dickens was the starting pitcher in game one. The righty recorded the win hurling 6 innings allowing 3 runs with 5 strikeouts without walking a batter. Dickens also had 3 RBI's at the dish. Nathan McKissick was sharp in relief and earned the save. The sidearmer pitched 2.2 scoreless innings with 5 strikeouts. 2B Emilio Trevino led the offense going 3-5 with 2RBI and 3 stolen bases. 1B Angel Rodriguez belted his nation leading 20th HR in the victory. 

In Game 2 of the tournament Eastfield defeated the #1 seed Caldwell Tech 6-3. 

Pitching was strong for the Harvesters in the contest. Starter Zane Leonard pitched 5 innings of one run ball. Lefty Stephen Pena went the rest of the way earning a 4 inning save. O'shea paced the offense with a 3 hit performance. Gus Witt, Clayton, and Dickens had multi hit days as well. 

The Harvesters dropped Game 3 of the tournament to Herkimer. 

LF Cade Conway had 2 hits in the game including a double and a stolen base. 

In Game 4 Eastfield matched up with #1 seed Caldwell Tech for the second time in the tournament; this time with a trip to the national championship round at stake. The Harvesters came out on top with a 11-1 run-rule victory in 6 innings. 

McKissick was on the mound again but this time as the starter. McKissick threw a complete game while only allowing 1 unearned run. Dickens was hot at the plate going 4-4 with 4 RBI. Jerrick Ervin, Conway, Clayton, and Jayden Morgan had 2 hits each in the game. 

In the National Championship Game the Harvesters again fell to Herkimer.

Ervin stole 5 bases in the game. O'shea hit a 2 RBI double. 

The Harvesters conclude the Spring 2022 season as Conference Champions, Regional Champions, and the National Runner-Up.
