Rodriguez, Ausmus Headline All-DAC Baseball Team
Dallas College Eastfield's Angel Rodriguez was voted Co-Most Valuable Player, while Cody Ausmus earned Co-Pitcher of the Year in the Dallas Athletic Conference. Harvester Bees head coach Michael Martin was named the league's Coach of the Year.
A sophomore first baseman from Tyler, Texas, Rodriguez is batting .428 with 15 home runs, 13 doubles, five triples and 81 runs batted in entering the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III World Series next week in Greeneville, Tennessee. His 81 RBI ranks third in the nation.
A sophomore right-handed pitcher from Paris, Texas, Ausmus is 7-1 with one save, a 2.73 earned run average and 39 strikeouts in 62.2 innings. He has one complete game.
Second baseman Gus Witt, outfielders Cade Conway, Jayden Morgan and River Curs and pitchers Ryan Dickey, Jacob Prokarym, Nick Lozano and Marcus Peters earned First Team All-DAC honors. Third baseman Manny Moore and designated hitter Payton Poole received Second Team All-DAC honors.
A sophomore from Kilgore, Texas, Witt is batting .367 with 10 home runs, 16 doubles, a triple, 69 RBI and 22 stolen bases. A sophomore from Paris, Texas, Conway is hitting .367 with 12 home runs, 17 doubles, three triples, 54 RBI and 50 stolen bases. His 50 stolen bases rank fifth in the country. A sophomore from Edgewood, Texas, Morgan is hitting .331 with nine homers, 18 doubles, a triple, 47 RBI and 10 stolen bases. A freshman from Burleson, Texas, Curs owns a .335 batting average with three home runs, 12 doubles, two triples and 15 stolen bases.
A freshman right-hander from Rockwall, Texas, Dickey is 8-2 with one save, a 4.70 earned run average and 66 strikeouts in 61.1 innings. A freshman left-hander from Plano, Texas, Prokarym is 5-1 with a 2.12 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 34 innings. A freshman righty from Trenton, Texas, Lozano is 4-3 with two saves, a 3.68 ERA and 24 strikeouts in 29.1 innings. A freshman right-hander from Dallas, Peters is 3-1 with a 1.47 ERA and 55 strikeouts in 36.2 innings.
A sophomore from Van, Texas, Moore owns a .349 batting average with four homers, 18 doubles, two triples, 41 RBI and 23 stolen bases. A freshman designated hitter from Benbrook, Texas, Poole is hitting .341 with nine home runs, five doubles, a triple and 29 RBI.
In his 22nd year at Eastfield, Martin has guided the Harvester Bees to a 45-11 record and No. 2 ranking in the NJCAA Division III poll. Eastfield won the DAC regular season title before claiming the South Central District championship for the second year in a row. The Harvester Bees will compete in the NJCAA Division III World Series beginning Saturday.
