Eastfield Moving 10 on to Next Level

MESQUITE, Texas – Dallas College Eastfield's baseball program is sending 10 players on to four-year schools.

Outfielder Cade Conway signed with Charleston Southern University, an NCAA Division I program. Pitcher Cody Ausmus is headed to Stephen F. Austin State University, another NCAA Division I institution.

Pitcher Stephen Pena signed with Texas A&M University Kingsville, an NCAA Division II school. Pitchers Jalen Johnston and Bryan Adams signed with the University of Texas Permian Basin, an NCAA Division II program. Pitcher Braden Fowler is on his way to Oklahoma Christian University, another NCAA Division II school.

First baseman Angel Rodriguez and outfielder Jayden Morgan are headed to Louisiana State University in Shreveport, an NAIA traditional power. Manny Moore is headed to Montreat College, an NAIA program in North Carolina. Catcher Jose Ramirez will play for Jarvis Christian University.

Conway, a product of Paris, Texas, was a National Junior College Athletic Association Division III First Team All-American after batting .372 with 17 doubles, three triples, 14 home runs, 63 runs batted in, 61 stolen bases and 79 runs scored.

Ausmus, who also hails from Paris, was a Second Team All-American. He went 8-1 with one save, two complete games, a 2.58 earned run average and 45 strikeouts in 69.2 innings pitched.

Pena, of Houston, went 6-0 with one save, one complete game, a 2.72 ERA and 53 strikeouts in 39.2 innings as a freshman. This past season, he was 4-0 with two saves, a 5.98 ERA and 51 strikeouts in 40.2 innings.

Johnston, a native of San Angelo, Texas, was 2-1 with one save and a complete game, while posting a 3.64 ERA and 35 strikeouts in 29.2 innings.

Adams, of Andrews, Texas, was 1-0 with one save, a 3.81 ERA and 37 strikeouts in 26 innings.

Fowler, a product of College Station, Texas, went 1-1 in six appearances, while limited to seven innings.

Rodriguez, of Tyler, Texas, was a First Team All-American. He batted .414 with 16 home runs, 13 doubles, five triples, 84 RBI and 78 runs.

Morgan, a native of Edgewood, Texas, was a First Team All-Dallas Athletic Conference selection. He batted .335 with 19 doubles, 10 home runs, two triples, 52 RBI, 13 stolen bases and 62 runs.

Moore, of Van, Texas, earned Second Team All-DAC honors. He batted .343 with 21 doubles, two triples, four home runs, 42 RBI, 25 stolen bases and 72 runs.

Ramirez, from Fort Worth, batted .245 with three home runs, a double, a triple, 17 RBI and 18 runs scored.
