Bees Snag Second DAC Series in Win over Suns

MESQUITE, Texas – Dallas College Eastfield's second-ranked baseball team secured its second Dallas Athletic Conference series with an 8-2 win over Dallas College Cedar Valley Friday.

The game was moved to Eastfield's turf field due to weather.

The Harvester Bees (18-6, 5-0 DAC) outhit the Suns, 11-4.

Eastfield starter Jacob Prokarym matched his career-high with 10 strikeouts, and allowed three hits, two runs, one of them earned, and two walks to improve to 3-0.

Cedar Valley (10-10, 0-5) scored a run in each of the first two innings to jump out to a 2-0 lead. Eastfield tied the game in the bottom half of the second with two runs of its own. Two innings later, the Harvester Bees scored two more to take control. The Bees added two in the fifth and two in the eighth.

Eastfield second baseman Josh Vaughn was 2-for-3 with two doubles and three runs batted in. Shortstop John Jackson was 2-for-2 with a home run, two RBI, a stolen base and two walks. Designated hitter Clay Payne had two hits, including a double, and drove in a run in four at-bats. Third baseman Michael Caputo was 2-for-3 with a triple and a stolen base. Center fielder River Curs was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a stolen base. First baseman Payton Poole was 1-for-3 with a double and a sacrifice fly to drive in a run.

Cedar Valley's Jordan Anguiano, Hayden Carpenter, Daniel Brandon III and Ian Williams each had a hit. Williams tripled, and drove in a run, while Brandon III doubled.

Eastfield closer Austin Noel struck out three of the six batters he faced in the last two innings, surrendering one hit and no walks.

The Bees host Joliet Junior College in a doubleheader Tuesday before taking off the rest of the week for Spring Break.
