Baseball Completes Sweep of Mountain View

DALLAS – Dallas College Eastfield's baseball team completed the sweep of Dallas College Mountain View, winning 21-7 in seven innings Friday to maintain its perch atop the Dallas Athletic Conference standings.

The No. 2 nationally-ranked Harvester Bees (28-7, 11-1 DAC) have won five in a row, including Game 1 (8-7 at Mountain View) and Game 2 (13-0) at home in this week's series, and improved to 25-1 at home this season. Eastfield has not lost at the Hive since Feb. 3 when it dropped the final of three games in a series victory over Howard College.

The Bees scored seven runs in the first inning and seven more in the third in sprinting out to a 15-2 lead. They tacked on six more in the fifth after the Lions (11-17, 1-11) put two runs of their own on the board in the top half of the inning, and the damage was done.

Josh Vaughn, JJ Bush, Aubrey Whitehead and Billy Spratt each homered for Eastfield, which outhit Mountain View, 21-12. Whitehead went 3-for-4 with a double and four runs batted in. Spratt and Vaughn both were 3-for-4 with a double and three runs batted in. Trenton McGee and Payton Poole both went 2-for-5 with a double and three RBI. River Curs doubled twice, and drove in a run in three at-bats. Michael Caputo was 2-for-2 with a double, an RBI and two walks. Garret Hendricks collected two hits, including a double, in three trips to the plate. Bush was 2-for-3 with the solo shot and two walks.

Eastfield belted a season-high nine doubles.

Tyler Do (5-0) went four innings, allowing six hits, three runs and four walks, and struck out four in the win.

The Harvesters will host Arlington Baptist University Red (4-12) Monday before wrapping up the first round of conference play when it opens a three-game series against Dallas College North Lake (15-17, 7-5) at home Wednesday.
