Bees Back Pull Even with Ducks at Top of DAC Standings

MESQUITE, Texas – The Bees are back in the saddle.

Fourth-ranked Dallas College Eastfield's baseball team beat No. 5 Dallas College Richland, 6-5, Wednesday to pull even with the visiting Thunderducks at the top of the Dallas Athletic Conference standings.

Eastfield (37-10, 18-4 DAC) sits tied with Richland (32-14, 18-4) for the league lead. The two teams will meet again Thursday and Friday at noon, with both games at Richland.

The Harvester Bees scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to pull ahead, 4-3. River Curs led off with a solo home run to pull Eastfield within a run. Payton Poole and JJ Bush both doubled – the latter to plate the tying run. John Jackson's RBI double to score Bush gave the Bees a one-run lead.

An inning later, Aubrey Whitehead belted a one-out, two-run double to extend the lead to 6-3.

Richland responded with two runs in its next at-bat on Hernan Zamora's fielder's choice RBI and a sacrifice fly by Jouseph Gelpi. But Bees closer Ryan Dyer got a strikeout to end the inning, and then retired the Thunderducks in order in the ninth to pull the Bees even at the top of the standings.

Eastfield middle reliever Austin Noel went 3.1 innings, allowing a run on three walks and a hit, and struck out three in the win. Dyer picked up his second save.

Whitehead went 2-for-4 with a home run, double and three RBI. Garret Hendricks was 2-for-4.
