
Harvesters Extend Lead to 3 Games in DAC
DALLAS – Dallas College Eastfield's baseball team extended its lead to three games in the Dallas Athletic Conference, following its series sweep of Dallas College Mountain View Friday.
The National Junior College Athletic Association Division III No. 3-ranked Harvester Bees (38-7, 18-3 DAC) hold a three-game lead over No. 6 Dallas College Richland (26-19, 15-6).
The Harvesters won their fifth straight game in the series finale with the Lions, prevailing 11-4. Richland dropped its series finale with Dallas College Brookhaven.
Eastfield center fielder Luke Sasser went 3 for 4 with a pair of RBI and two stolen bases. Shortstop Angel Gutierrez was 3 for 4 with a stolen base. First baseman Jorge Herrera went 2 for 5 with two stolen bases. Designated hitter Erik Aguirre hit a two-run home run and walked. It was his third homer of the season. Catcher Drew Saenz went 1 for 5, and drove in two runs. Second baseman Garret Hendricks doubled and walked. Left fielder Michael Caputo went 1 for 4 with an RBI and a walk. Third baseman Sebastian Palma went 1 for 4 with a walk.
The Bees scored six runs in the seventh inning to take an eight-game lead.
Mountain View's Asher Bates was 2 for 4. Victor Zuniga, Huston Cornish, Aidan Flores and Jeremiah Lucero each had one of the Lions' six hits.
Eastfield starter Ryan Dyer (5-0) went seven innings, allowing two runs, five hits and a walk, and struck out a career-high seven in the win. Tyler Trapp pitched the last two innings, giving up two runs, a hit and four walks, while striking out three.
The Bees begin a three-game series against Dallas College North Lake (19-27, 10-11) at home 12 p.m. Wednesday. The final two games will be played at North Lake Friday and Saturday.
