Eastfield Baseball Hosts South Central District Tournament Thursday-Saturday
MESQUITE, Texas – Dallas College Eastfield's baseball team will host the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III South Central District Tournament Thursday-Saturday.
Following a single-elimination round at Dallas College Brookhaven Wednesday, the tournament will move to a double-elimination format Thursday at Eastfield. The championship is scheduled for 12 p.m. Saturday.
Top-seeded Eastfield earned a single-elimination round bye, and will play the lowest remaining seed in the double-elimination round Thursday. Second-seeded Dallas College Richland also earned a single-elimination bye, and will play the highest remaining seed Thursday.
Third-seeded Dallas College Brookhaven hosts sixth-seeded Dallas College Mountain View 10 a.m. Wednesday in the single-elimination round. Fourth-seeded Dallas College North Lake plays Dallas College Cedar Valley 1 p.m. Wednesday in the other single-elimination game.
The Harvester Bees won their fourth consecutive Dallas Athletic Conference regular season title. Eastfield has finished as the NJCAA Division III national runner-up the last three years.
Richland won last year's South Central District Tournament, earning an automatic berth in the NJCAA Division III World Series. Eastfield received an at-large bid to the national tournament.
This year's NJCAA Division III World Series is scheduled for May 24-29 at Falcon Park in Auburn, New York.
