Stout Named Eastfield Esports Coach

MESQUITE, Texas – Jeremy Stout was named head esports coach at Dallas College Eastfield.

Stout's gaming emphasis centers on League of Legends, Valorant, Overwatch, and Rocket League titles, but will diversify Eastfield's esports program based on student interests, providing many opportunities.

"At Eastfield, we plan to pursue competitive excellence, but also a commitment to cultivating a diverse community and fostering a welcoming environment for all students to develop their skills in the sport," Stout said. "Recognizing that esports attracts individuals from all walks of life, I understand the importance of creating an environment where everyone feels valued and respected. This commitment to diversify not only enhances the overall experience for players, but also helps to dispel stereotypes, and promote inclusivity within the esports industry."

Stout has coached Wylie High School's esports program since 2020 when he started the team. His League of Legends team won a state championship in 2022. His Mario Kart team won a state title in 2022. His Mario Kart team qualified for the national championships in 2023. Wylie's League of Legends team has qualified for the playoffs every year under Stout.

Eastfield will also use the esports program to provide opportunities outside of gaming to students.

"The team will focus on a lot of different titles, including League of Legends, Rocket League, Valorant, Overwatch, Madden, NBA 2K, Smash Brothers and many more," Stout said. "We will also have opportunities in marketing, journalism, video tech, broadcasting, shout casting, tournament setups and all the business that comes with esports careers."

Eastfield and Dallas College will enter its third academic year offering esports. Students can attend any Dallas College campus, and compete in esports on any of the seven campuses if they enroll in at least 12 credit hours each semester, and maintain a 2.0 grade point average.
