
Men's Basketball Begins Second Half of Season Thursday
MESQUITE, Texas – Dallas College Eastfield men's basketball team will begin the second half of the season Thursday at home when the Harvester Bees host Creating Young Minds Prep at 6 p.m.
This will signal the start of a five-game homestand for the Harvester Bees. The homestand will include the beginning of Dallas Athletic Conference play versus Dallas College Mountain View Saturday, Jan. 20 and a Coaches vs. Cancer league game against Dallas College Brookhaven Wednesday, Jan. 24.
Eastfield (8-9) brings a five-game winning streak into the second half of the season, including a 128-112 victory over CYM Prep before the holidays. The Harvester Bees, which picked up votes in this week's National Junior College Athletic Association Division III rankings, also beat NJCAA Division I Connors State College at home and Hill College on the road during that stretch.
Sophomore swingman Joshua Williford is averaging 14.3 points, five rebounds and 1.8 steals per game. Sophomore swingman Dwayne Reliford is averaging 12.6 points, 7.9 rebounds, two steals and 1.2 blocks. Freshman guard Vashney Wright III is averaging 10.5 points and 3.3 steals. Freshman guards Dezmon Dudley and Delkedric Holmes are both scoring 9.9 points, and averaging over three steals per game. Holmes is also good for 4.4 assists and 4.3 boards per game. Sophomore guard Marcus Gill Jr is averaging 9.2 points, 3.6 assists and 2.9 steals.
The Harvester Bees are 5-0 at home this season.
