MESQUITE, Texas – Make it 10 in a row.

Dallas College Eastfield's No. 14-ranked men's basketball team beat Dallas College Brookhaven, 87-82, in a Dallas Athletic Conference game Wednesday night in a game the Harvester Bees participated in a Coaches vs. Cancer event.

It was Eastfield's 10th consecutive win.

"Brookhaven has a great gameplan for us every year," Eastfield coach Dexter Young said. "They beat us last year the first time. We beat 'em the second time. They had a gameplan. But our guys fight, and played a little bit more defense than we did last year."

The Harvester Bees improved to 13-9 overall, 2-0 in the DAC, snapping Brookhaven's seven-game winning streak. The Bears fell to 12-8, 1-1 in the conference.

Brookhaven raced out to an eight-point lead in the opening minutes before Eastfield settled in with a run of its own. The Harvester Bees led 45-41 at halftime.

"We were letting people get behind us, get behind us," Young said. "That happens with the way we play hectic. But I tell 'em every time, 'It's going to end up in a free throw contest.'"

Eastfield was 24 of 31 from the free throw line. Brookhaven sank 22 of 30. The Harvesters were 16 of 22 from the line in the second half. The Bears were 10 of 11 in the second half.

Vashney Wright III had 10 points, two steals and two blocks.

Brookhaven's Curtis Trey Moffett scored a career-high 30 points on 10 of 12 shooting from the field and 9 of 11 from the free throw line. He added six boards, five assists and four steals. Jackson Lino had 13 points and seven rebounds. Grant Jessen, Terrell Palmer and Richard Adewale-Safa each finished with 10 points. Jessen grabbed 13 rebounds, and had a block. Palmer had five rebounds and three assists. Adewale-Safa had four rebounds.

Brookhaven shot 52.7 percent from the floor, going 29 of 55 from the field. Eastfield hit 43.3 percent of its shots, going 29 of 67.

Reliford hit the back end of a pair of free throws with 34 seconds left to give the Harvester Bees an 83-75 lead. Brookhaven buried a couple field goals to make it a two-possession game, but Eastfield held on.

Eastfield plays at Dallas College Cedar Valley 1 p.m. Saturday.
