
Bees Sting Late, Pull Out Win at Mountain View
DALLAS – Marcus Gill Jr. hit the gamewinning basket in the closing seconds, lifting Dallas College Eastfield to a 79-77 win at Dallas College Mountain View Saturday to begin the second half of Dallas Athletic Conference play.
The win snapped a two-game skid for the Harvester Bees, who are receiving votes in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III rankings. Eastfield improved to 15-11 overall, 4-2 in the DAC. Mountain View fell to 13-12, 0-6.
Joshua Williford scored 34 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, and had five steals and two blocks as the Harvesters overcame a 45-37 halftime deficit to win. Williford was 13 of 19 from the floor and 8-for-10 at the free throw line. Javen Hutton added 13 points and four assists.
Mountain View's Joshua Smith finished with 23 points, 14 boards, six blocks and a steal, and Xavier Peyton had 28 points, four rebounds and two blocks.
The Harvesters shot 40 percent, knocking down 30 of 75 field goals. The Lions connected on 50 percent of their field goals, going 31 of 62.
Dwayne Reliford pulled down 13 of Eastfield's 41 rebounds, and had seven points, a block and a steal. Evan Awodipe had 10 of Mountain View's 38 boards, and joined Doviyon Bradford in scoring eight points.
Eastfield sank 12 of 15 free throws. Mountain View was 11 of 14 from the free throw line.
The Harvesters meet Dallas College Brookhaven (14-10, 3-3) on the road 6 p.m. Wednesday.
