
Eastfield Gets by Mountain View, Setting up Wednesday Battle with Brookhaven
DALLAS – Dallas College Eastfield men's basketball team beat Dallas College Mountain View, 91-88, Saturday to open the second round of Dallas Athletic Conference action.
The win moved the Harvester Bees (4-14, 3-3 DAC) into a tie for third place in the league. Eastfield hosts Dallas College Brookhaven (6-15, 3-3) Wednesday night for sole possession of third place.
Devin Holmes matched his season high, scoring 27 points on 11 of 16 shooting, and had three steals as Eastfield built on a three-point halftime lead, and held off Mountain View (9-12, 2-4). Delkedric Holmes added 19 points, six rebounds and three steals. He was 7 of 12 from the floor.
The Harvesters shot 59.6 percent from the field, going 34 of 57. They knocked down 8 of 17 three-pointers, and were 14-for-19 from the free throw line.
Mountain View went 26 of 61 for 42.6 percent. The Lions hit 8 of 22 triples, and sank 28 of 37 free throws.
London Greer and Almamy Doumbia each scored 12 points for Eastfield. Greer was 6 of 10 shooting, while pulling down seven boards. Doumbia canned three of four 3-pointers.
Mountain View's Ashton Price scored 21 points, going 9-for-11 at the free throw line. He was 6 of 11 from the floor, and had four steals and two blocks. Louis Conner added 15 points, four assists and three steals. Augustine Chibuko sank 9 of 11 free throws, and finished with 15 points, 14 rebounds, four blocks and two steals. Adrian Banks had 12 points, and Noel Duplechain scored nine as the Lions fell a point shy of all five starters reaching double figures.
Jeremiah Talib had 11 points off the bench.
It was Eastfield's second straight DAC win and the first in the new year.
