Bio
James Fisher was named assistant men's basketball coach at Dallas College Eastfield in July 2023.
In 2023-24, the Harvester Bees finished 18-14 overall, 6-4 in the Dallas Athetlc Conference. Fisher was part of a team that advanced to the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III South Central District semifinals.
Fisher came to Eastfield with over 30 years of coaching experience at the semi-professional, college, high school and AAU levels.
In 2022-23, Fisher was the assistant coach at Dallas Christian College, which went 9-16 overall, 4-1 in the conference. Prior to Dallas Christian, he spent 13 years at Rockford Auburn High School, where he led the team to a third place finish at the state tournament -- the best finish in school history. His teams at Rockford Auburn enjoyed several 20-plus win seasons, three undefeated conference championships, four conference titles, seven regional championships, four sectional championships, two super sectional titles and two state finals appearances.
During his time at Rockford Auburn, Fisher became the general manager and head coach of the Rockford Riverdawgs, a semi-professional team in the International Basketball Association. He spent two seasons with the Riverdawgs. There, he oversaw team operations, coaching, scouting, player personnel, player acquisitions and team transactions. The Riverdawgs improved their winning percentage each year, and made an appearance in the organization's first championship series.
Fisher has mentored numerous players throughout his career who have gone on to play college and professional basketball, including Fred VanVleet, who won an NBA Championship with the Toronto Raptors in 2019.
