Women's Soccer Blanks Southwestern Adventist For First Win

Dallas College Eastfield's women's soccer team shut out Southwestern Adventist University, 5-0, Wednesday.

It was the first win of the season for the Harvester Bees, who evened their record at 1-1.

Freshman Alicia Aguilar and sophomore Andrea Marentes both found the back of the net twice. Late in the game, Hayley Torres hit a banger from about 30 feet out, straight to the top upper 90 corner. That gave Eastfield the five-goal cushion.

Laisha Garcia had two assists, while Vanessa Ruiz, Juliana Martinez and Julitha Mwamvua each had one.

Stephanie Torres and Herrea shared the shutout in goal. Torres made two saves, and Herrea stopped one shot as each goalkeeper played a half. 

Eastfield hosts Western Texas College 3 p.m. Monday.
