Volleyball Takes Down No. 7 Brookhaven

MESQUITE, Texas -- In a battle of nationally-ranked teams, No. 1 Dallas College Eastfield's volleyball team beat No. 7 Dallas College Brookhaven, 26-24, 25-18, 25-23, Thursday in a Dallas Athletic Conference match Thursday night.

Eastfield (23-0, 4-0 DAC) took an early lead in the opening set, jumping ahead by as many as six before Brookhaven (7-13, 2-2) made a late run to tie the game at 23.  The Harvester Bees put a stop to the Bears' run, and pulled out the set. Eastfield again jumped out to an early lead in Set 2.  This time, the Bees kept control, coasting to a seven-point set victory. In the closing set, Brookhaven seized control early, and maintained its lead throughout most of the set. With the Harvesters trailing, 21-16, Carli Banks served five straight points to knot things up. Eastfield secured four of the last six points to record its fourth consecutive sweep and 20th of the season.

Brenly Walker finished with 17 kills, 15 digs and a .405 hitting percentage. McKenzie Anderson added six kills, a .417 attack rate and two blocks, while Taryn Doiron had 30 assists, two kills and nine digs.

Eastfield will wrap up the first round of conference play 6 p.m. Monday at Dallas College Richland.
