Harvesters Remain Unbeaten

DALLAS -- On Monday night, Dallas College Eastfield Harvester Bees volleyball team swept a Dallas Athletic Conference match at Dallas College Richland to remain unbeaten.

Eastfield had to work for the first set, with neither team able to seperate from the other until a spurt at the end of the set put Eastfield over the finish line, winning 25-22. Coach Phil Nickel made a couple of adjustments in Set 2, and the Harvesters came out smoking, running out to an early lead, and never looking back, winning the set, 25-9. Richland would not go quietly though, taking an early lead on some Eastfield errors, and with some scrappy defense.  The Harvesters stayed the course though, eventually overtaking the Thunderducks and winning the third set, 27-25, and the match 3-0.

Eastfield powered home 51 kills for the match on a .342 hitting percentage, led by Carli Banks with 13 kills and Azoria Davis with 12 kills. The Harvesters also got solid contributions from McKenzie Anderson, Kendall Wilson and Tasmine Maxwell in the middle, and Amber Smart came off the bench to contribute five kills on seven swings.

Eastfield takes on Dallas College North Lake 6 p.m. Thursday in Irving, Texas. Admission is free.
