Harvester Bees Defeat North Lake

IRVING, Texas -- In a battle of the first and second place teams in the conference, Dallas College Eastfield's volleyball team flexed its muscle to defeat the Dallas College North Lake Blazers, 3-0, to remain atop the Dallas Athletic Conference standings.

Eastfield (25-0, 6-0 DAC) used its diverse offense to overcome North Lake's scrappy defense in Set 1. Both teams fought hard, but the Bees were able to build a four-point lead early that they were able to expand on throughout the set. The Bees won the opening set, 25-19. Set 2 saw more of the same as Eastfield jumped out to an early lead, and maintained control thoughout, cruising to a 25-17 victory. North Lake (11-16, 4-2) jumped out to an early lead in Set 3, taking a two- and three-point lead early in the set. The Harvesters steadily regained the momentum before Taryn Doiron went on a serving run to put them back in front for good to finish off the Blazers, 25-16.

Eastfield spread the offense, with Brenly Walker, Azoria Davis, Tasmine Maxwell and Carli Banks all having good nights at the net, while Doiron and Denee Cullum did a good job of running the offense. Libero Ava Cole had an excellent night on defense.

Eastifield will play at home Monday against Dallas College Cedar Valley and Thursday against Dallas College Mountain View. Both matches start at 6 p.m., and admission is free.
