No. 1 Bees Meet No. 4 Bears with DAC Title on Line

A battle of Top 5 teams awaits as No. 1 Dallas College Eastfield takes its unblemished record into the Bears Den for the final road match of the season when the Harvester Bees meet host and fourth-ranked Dallas College Brookhaven 6 p.m. Monday.

Eastfield, who at 27-0 overall, 8-0 in the Dallas Athletic Conference, has owned the top spot in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III rankings since Sept. 25, swept Brookhaven (11-13, 6-2) in the first meeting three days after taking over the No. 1 ranking.

A win would give the Harvester Bees the DAC regular season championship, and earn them the right to host the NJCAA Division III South District Tournament Oct. 25-28. Two matches remain in the regular season. Eastfield finishes the season at home Thursday against Dallas College Richland. Brookhaven will conclude the regular season at Dallas College Cedar Valley.

Eastfield's Azoria Davis leads the Harvester Bees with 248 kills, has 275 digs, and is hitting .263 this season. Brenly Walker, this week's DAC Offensive Player of the Week, has 230 kills and 32 aces, and has a .296 attack rate. Tasmine Maxwell has 146 kills and 45 blocks, Carli Banks 132 kills and Aleyna Gerlach 120 kills and 51 blocks. Taryn Doiron has 552 assists and 39 aces, and Denee Cullum 381. Ava Cole leads the Harvesters with 354 digs.

Brookhaven's Madison Beasley has 225 kills and 244 digs. Laila Beck has 165 kills and 68 blocks, while hitting .281. Caroline Simpson has 113 kills and 202 digs. Jordan Bruscato has 466 assists, 218 digs and 67 aces. Tabitha Westbrook has 53 blocks. Emma Borders has 42 aces.

The Bears won last year's DAC regular season title, and finished third in the national tournament. The Harvester Bees won the 2017 national championship.
