Maxwell Commits to St. Thomas

MESQUITE, Texas -- Sophomore middle blocker Tasmine Maxwell recently committed to the University of St. Thomas in Houston to continue her academic and volleyball careers.

Maxwell, who came to Dallas College Eastfield from Madison High School in Houston, helped lead the Harvester Bees to the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III National Championship last fall with a 35-0 record. She earned First Team All-Dallas Athletic Conference, First Team All-NJCAA Region V and Second Team NJCAA All-America honors as a sophomore after being named Honorable Mention All-DAC as a freshman.

Maxwell notched 192 kills, and earned 223.5 points for the Harvester Bees during their championship run. For her career, she recorded 352 kills and 87 blocks.

"Tas worked as hard as anyone from the time I arrived to now," Bees head coach Phil Nickel said. "The amount of improvement she has shown over the last year-and-a-half is extraordinary.  I look forward to seeing her play at the next level for UST. I expect big things from her."
