Harvester Volleyball Set to Start Practice Aug. 1

MESQUITE, Texas - Dallas College Eastfield's volleyball team is slated to start practice for the 2023 season on Tuesday, Aug. 1. 

The Lady Harvesters return six players from last year, and added eight newcomers to the roster for the upcoming season. Returning are First Team All-Dallas Athletic Conference setter Denee Cullum, along with Second Team All-DAC members Aleyna Gerlach and Amber Smart. Honorable Mention middle blocker Tasmine Maxwell, McKayla Archer and Kristi Hinze all return for their sophomore seasons.

The newcomers include All-State setter Taryn Doiron from Bridge City High School. Joining Doiron are All-District players Brenly Walker from Lexington High School and Texstar Volleyball, Azoria Davis from Clear Springs High School and AVA Volleyball Club, Ava Cole from Royse City High School and Incredible Crush, and McKenzie Anderson from Huffman Hargrave High School and Xcel Volleyball. Kendall Wilson from the International Leadership Academy of Texas and Katy United, Abby Hoss from Jordan High School and Houston Stars and Leslie Torres from Quinlan Ford High School and Allegiant Volleyball round out the freshmen class.

The Harvester Bees are hosting a scrimmage on Aug. 12th with Hill College, Lee College, Ranger College and Texas Wesleyan. The next week, the team travels to Tyler JC to scrimmage on Aug. 15, before opening the regular season with two matches at Southwestern Christian College. The Harvesters are playing in the Wrangler/Ranger Roundup Aug. 25-26 and the Blinn College Classic Sept. 15-16, where they will get a shot at the defending national champions, the College of DuPage. From there, the team will move into conference play, where they will be looking to improve on last fall's finish. The winner of the National Junior College Athletic Association district tournament gets an automatic bid to the national tournament in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
