Bees Buzz Through Blinn Invitational

BRENHAM, Texas – Top-ranked Dallas College Eastfield's volleyball team went unbeaten at the Blinn Invitational Friday and Saturday.

The National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Harvester Bees swept all four opponents, including three NJCAA Division I schools. The Bees, who improved to 15-0, also swept NJCAA Division III College of DuPage, which received votes in the national rankings. Eastfield has swept 13 of its 15 opponents this year.

Eastfield beat Tyler Junior College, 25-19, 25-19, 25-15 to open the tournament Friday. The Harvesters had a .318 attack percentage, marking the sixth time they've hit over .300 this season.

McKenzie Anderson had 13 kills, Brenly Walker 12 and Carli Banks 11 for the Bees. Banks (.625) and Anderson (619) both had season-high attack percentages. Taryn Doiron had 42 assists. Walker had four blocks, while Kendall Wilson and Anderson each had three. Azoria Davis had 15 digs, and Ava Cole 10.

The Bees beat Hill, 26-24, 25-15, 25-14, to wrap up the first day. They hit .263. Walker and Wilson each had 11 kills. Wilson had a season-best .667 attack rate, and added three blocks and two aces. Doiron had 35 assists. Cole had 16 digs, and Banks 11 digs and seven kills. Davis and Walker each had two blocks.

In the 25-15, 25-18, 25-14 win over DuPage Saturday, Eastfield hit .276. Banks had 12 kills, a .455 attack rate, eight digs and two blocks. Walker finished with 10 kills, nine digs and two blocks. Doiron had 26 assists, 13 digs and two aces. Cole had 11 digs.

The Harvesters finished the tournament with a 25-23, 25-9, 25-18 win over Jefferson College. Walker reached double-digit kills (10) for the fourth time in the tournament, while hitting .375 and adding three blocks and three aces. Davis had eight kills and eight digs, and hit .294. Banks finished with seven kills, no errors, a .467 hitting percentage, seven digs and two blocks. Doiron had 30 assists, seven digs and an ace. Wilson had four blocks.

Eastfield will open Dallas Athletic Conference play at Dallas College North Lake (8-11) at 6 p.m. Monday.
