Bees Cruise in Conference Opener

IRVING, Texas – Dallas College Eastfield's volleyball team swept Dallas College North Lake, 25-14, 25-17, 25-13, in the Dallas Athletic Conference opener Monday.

The No. 1-ranked Harvester Bees (16-0, 1-0 DAC) hit .298, which included a .448 attack percentage in the second set. North Lake, which is receiving votes in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III rankings, was held to an .042 hitting percentage. The Blazers fell to 8-12 overall, 0-1 in the DAC.

Eastfield's Brenly Walker, the DAC Offensive Player of the Week, had 10 kills, 11 digs, two aces and two blocks. It was the sixth straight match she's had double-digit kills. Carli Banks banged down nine balls, hit .500, and had three aces and a block. Azoria Davis finished with seven kills, no errors, a .318 hitting percentage, nine digs and a block. McKenzie Anderson had seven kills and three blocks. Kendall Wilson had five kills, no errors, three blocks and a .625 attack percentage. Taryn Doiron had 34 assists, eight digs, two blocks and three kills. Ava Cole had 11 digs.

North Lake's Gabi Smith had seven kills, no errors and a .636 hitting percentage. Hailey Pennison had five kills, and Shi'Miria Phillips four kills and a block. Hadley Klock had 21 assists and 13 digs. Katie Lloyd had 15 digs. Kendyl Burgess accounted for the Blazers' two aces.

Eastfield will host Dallas College Richland (11-11, 1-0 DAC) at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the first league home match.
