Eastfield's Anderson, Cole Collect DAC Players of Week Honors
IRVING, Texas – Dallas College Eastfield's McKenzie Anderson and Ava Cole have been named the Dallas Athletic Conference Volleyball Players of the Week.
Anderson was chosen as the league's Offensive Player of the Week, while Cole was named the Defensive Player of the Week. It is the third time this season Cole received the award.
A 6-foot sophomore middle blocker from Liberty, Texas, Anderson had 70 kills, 26 blocks and three aces, while hitting .311 as the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III No. 1-ranked Harvester Bees went 5-1 last week. She had a career-high 21 kills in both wins over Metropolitan Community College and NJCAA Division II No. 18 Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, and was named to the Cowley County Community College Invitational All-Tournament Team. Anderson had a career-best eight blocks in the Bees' sweep of Central Community College-Columbus. She averaged 3.33 kills per set in the six matches last week, which included conference sweeps over Dallas College North Lake, which was receiving votes in the NJCAA DIII rankings, and Dallas College Richland.
A 5-6 sophomore libero from Royse City, Texas, Cole had 111 digs, 19 assists and two aces last week. In the five-set win over Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, she had a career-high 37 digs. She had 24 digs and two aces in the four-set win over Metropolitan. Cole had 20 digs in a three-set loss to NJCAA Division II No. 1 Cowley County.
Eastfield (20-1, 2-0 DAC) hosts Dallas College Mountain View (5-17, 0-2) at 6 p.m. Monday. The Bees play at Dallas College Cedar Valley (2-13, 0-2) at 6 p.m. Thursday.
